Just wondering why the TE car qualfing ladder is set up that 2.95 or closest to it is #1 and anything under is in the back of the pack. NHRA lets you quilify under the index in order of the fastest. Then you have to slow down to run the number. I know there are T/E cars that can post a fast number to get #1 and then slow down to 2.95. Like Tim Martin as an example. I think it is the way it should be. What do you think?

OK LET ME SEE IF I GOT THIS RIGHT...YOU THINK THAT A T/E CAR RUNNING UNDER THE 2.95 INDEX SHOULD BE REWARDED WITH A HIGHER PLACE ON THE Q. LADDER. I SAY NO, WE HAVE RACERS WORKING VERY HARD TO RUN AS CLOSE TO THE 2.95 INDEX, WITHOUT GOING UNDER. I SAY THESE RACERS DESERVE THE Q. LADDER REWARD! IF YOU GIVE THE BETTER SPOTS ON THE LADDER TO THE CARS THAT RUN UNDER THE INDEX, YOU MAY JUST RUN THE UP AND COMING T/E TEAMS BACK TO PRO1. LAST TIME I CHECKED THE UNDER 2.95 RUNS GO TO THE BACK OF THE LADDER....BY RULE. WE DO RUN BY RULES.
THE CLASS IS GROWING AND GROWING SO WHY CHANGE?

NHRA...LAST TIME I CHECKED SUPER GAS, SUPER STREET, AND SUPER COMP HAVE A FIXED INDEX AND QUALIFIES THE SAME WAY AS NSDA DOES IN T/E.
YOU MAYBE TALKING ABOUT COMP ELIMINATOR, BUT THEY DONT RUN A FIXED INDEX, DO THEY??
JUST WANTED TO CLEAR THE NHRA THING UP.
RACE ON SWAG
P.S. I BELIEVE IHBA RUNS THE PRO MOD (7.00)INDEX, THE SAME WAY AS NSDA DOES THE TE CLASS. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS MORE THE NORM THAN THE EXCEPTION. |

| the comp class does not run on a fixed index. they have classes that have indexes but its about how far you run under your index is where you go on the Q ladder. |

Yep Swag, I say reward em, that is the way the class started in ASDA and there were still plenty of cars. Flex what you got then slow it down to a 2.95.

ROD I DONT AGREE,I RUN IN 2 INDEX CLASSES T/E AND PRO INDEX. NOW IN T/E WE ARE DOWN ON THE LADDER BUT KEEP TRYING, BUT IN PRO INDEX WE ARE ALMOST ALWAYS THE FASTEST CAR. WE HAVE TO WORK VERY HARD TO GET TO BE AT THE TOP OF THE LADDER AND DONT FEEL IT WOULD BE FAIR TO GET A FREE PASS TO GO TO THE TOP. YES ASDA DOES IT THAT WAY BUT I ALWAYS BELIEVED IT WAS WRONG. AGAIN WHY CHANGE SOMETHING THAT WORKS?? THINK ABOUT IT THIS WAY, DURING THE RACE YOU TRY TO GET AS CLOSE TO THE INDEX WITHOUT GOING UNDER OR YOU LOSE, SO WHY NOT THE SAME DURING QUALIFYING? I SAY NO FREE PASS!

Index racing (in most cases) has always qualified closest to the index or slower. I personally feel this qualifying method is correct. A breakout run during eliminations in the index class would result in a loss. I'm not sure it would be right to reward someone during qualifying for running two tenths under the index. That same run in eliminations is no reward. I run a 9.90 class in NHRA. The 9.90 class has qualified this way since its inception in the early 80`s. It still remains to be a very popular class.
