Posted - 04/29/2009 : 1:03:15 PM I just returned from Primm where Dee and I were just hanging out (left the cars at home) As I sit and evaluate the weeking and the car's in the top classes (or lack of them) I wonder if perhaps its time for the powers at be to re-think the classes and how they are broken down. This is just food for thought so toss out your opinions. It could be possible that the Top alky and Top fuel class are so sparse becuse the economy is in sad shape, that and the fact that in both classes there are only a few cars at the top of the class. As an example only a couple years ago a 2.58 in alky would put you at #1 today a 2.58 wont even guarintee you are in the show and if you can only run a 2.70 why bother to spend the cash knowing you are going out first round if you make it at all. That said here is my idea.
cut up the classes like this Class #1 anything faster then 2.60 whatever fuel you want to run. Class #2 2.60 to 2.95 whatever fuel and what ever motor combo you want to run. Nitro 4 cly to nitro V-8 who cares as long as you dont run faster then 2.60 or you break out. 2.95 and all the rest the same.
If your car can run 2.50 and you wanna sand bag into the 2.60 class who cares come on and sand bag. If you run 2.40 something you run class #1 You are in the game with the current nito cars 90% of the time. If Your old alky V-8 wont run but a 2.80 thats close enough to be competitive but if you want to run Nitro to get to 2.61 go ahead and run it just dont run 2.59 or your out.
4 bangers that can run 2.80 on alky put nitro in the tank if you want and run the 2.60 class.
I really have no idea what you guys think and I have no imput as to how any track sets up there classes. However if car count is down and tracks are "loosing money every race" what do you really have to loose?

Posted - 05/08/2009 : 6:22:48 PM ADRL was going under 2 yrs ago 1 friday night thay had maybe 50 paid fans they whent out and printed up 30,000. tickets gave out every speed shop shoping mall every where nextday had 12 or 15 thousand fans show made more money then ever did sold out of every thing in the matter of 2 hrs. next race gave out over 50,000 tickets but this time had more shirts hats food and made a killing and evry race it just keep getting bigger and bigger.Sand drags has been the same 40 yrs and it allways keep starting over because not the car counts its that they have no spectatrors.a litle track out here just had ther 1 race 2 weeks ago 10 dollar spec had allmost two thousand show up and they maybe 40 quads and a some buggies due the math. the racers keep paying for everything then they just stop comming. NSDA has the best race tracks in country. just need some fans Iwas not saying to copying ADRL just stating the facts see u craig |

Hey I am not sure I understand....If they give out free tickets for fans, fee entry for all teams and have big payouts....where does the payout money come from?

Posted - 05/08/2009 : 3:49:49 PM I think it would be a great idea to look into a "Super" Top Eliminator class with a 2.75 index. There is quite a gap between top alcohol (running high 2.40's) and top eliminators 2.95 index. It could allow some of the slower alcohol cars, the fast 4's, and some of the backed down top eliminator cars to really go for it. Right now any car that runs between a 2.70-2.95 is kind of stuck in no mans land. |

Posted - 05/08/2009 : 09:53:14 AM Chachy, I totaly agree Primm was great event under circumstances .Great job to you and crew cramming most qualifying into Saturday , that was impressive . Got to watch TF and TA at evening and into early night under the lights that was a bonus . Earlier I posted why not change TE to 2.85 index including my self on this discussion , now after other remarkes and responses to class changes , I think it was selfish of me , it is great just to be able to participate in a very competive and challenging class . Always hoping the get the 4 cylr class back !!!
DollaBill , It's in your nature to give Aussie's a good time .

Posted - 05/07/2009 : 8:52:27 PM Disappointment!
We just had a great race. Even with the horrible weather on Friday, we adjusted the schedule and made it work for everyone. We are now only 7 days from another race weekend and all you can do is complain about the website and get into a he said/she said contest!?
I am in shock, at a loss for words and to be honest, I bet this dosn't help us with the sports reporter for the New York Times and the gentleman that will be joining us from Australia to cover sand drags in the U.S. Yes, you read that right, they will be in Avenal to cover our sport.
How do you think this will make us ALL look?
Think about it!

Posted - 05/07/2009 : 3:07:43 PM I deal with people all day long and in many different situations I have never butted heads with so many people in my life its crazy . Just go out have fun drink a few beers and race what you have thats what sand drag racing is all about . But dont judge or put down others because they make one pass with a differntly set up race car. How many cars took out the cones this weekend and or flipped causing delays in the event ? we all need to go back to work so we can pay for all this racing ! NSDA you guys are a class act we have been with you from the begining and will be their till the end ! Cameron Motorsports |

Posted - 05/07/2009 : 2:19:11 PM I don't know how to say this and I might not be right be I think it needs to be said. A lot of people have put a lot of hard work in this sport from NSDA to racers. Yet we all seem like we are pulling on different sides of the rope. We all should have one goal in mind and thats to make this sport last forever, I mean we have no big out side company putting up money for us people who we all know are doing this out of their own pockets they could walk away and then what? I hope we all can get over our own issue and can look at the big issue at hand. How can we all help out to make this thing last. How would you like to know that there could be a company on here right now looking at all of the forums and seeing what we are all about and willing to give NSDA money to help them out, but wont do it because we all talk crap about each other and stuff. I'm not great by no mean there are people who make me mad but we all need to get over our self and look at the Good for our sport. I hope you all take this with an open eye and lets all help each other like we have been doing and talking about the good not the bad. I want a place for my kids to run and for their kids to run.I hope this sport will keep going. Thank you to NSDA for putting up with us all bitch all the time you all do a great job.
