Heard of a dual tire fuel car being put together, but not allowed to run? Dont know if this is true, but i think you should be able to bring out any combination that'll work. Nobody has the same combination: V8, small blocks, V6, heavy, light, short, and long. Whats it going to hurt to try something new? Just saying my opinion but i would like to see it. I mean how cool to see four tires rollng up to the starting line, now thats fuel racing to me.

We have not ran the car since November '06. My dad John Sr. had a stroke in Jan. '07, and lost a lot of mobility in his right side. The future is still unsure right now. He is getting better but still not his usual self. The car is completely together and ready to go. Keep in touch. John Jr.

Thats neat that you remember our track in Rock Springs. I talked with Butch Blair a week or so ago and sort of remenised(sp)about the "OLD DAYS" and things. My dad was actually the track boss and my Uncle Paul was the president at the time. I was talking to my mom about back then and we were talking about all the "bigg Boys" as we used to call them and your car came up. It's cool to hear that car is still around. Your car, Butch's, Herzog and Hendersons' The Johnsons, Danny Danell, just too mention a few. R u campaigning the car much this year? Look forward to hearing more from you ................Mike in Salt Lake City

I am the son and current driver of the car. I remember the track, we came up there once to Wyoming and several times to Utah. John Jr.

We were running back in the dual days and even attempted running them ourselves on our small block car. We obviously did not have the HP the chrysler cars had but, we were slinging the outers so bad it was trying to shake the car apart. The hemi cars were mostly using huge diffs out of semi trucks to support and live with those monsters hanging off of both sides. So it would not be as simple as just bolt duals to the Top Fuel cars of today. You have redo the whole rear of the car and come up with a diff to support them. There would be a lot of expense invlolved here!!! Just to remind you guys we are only running for an $8000 dolar purse at some of the races (thanks to NSDA for that!!!) Is it really worth it!!!! PS those days were cool to be apart of Though!! Just my 2 cents. John Crook Jr.

I AGREE NSDA PUTS ON THE BEST RACES I'VE SEEN IN MY SHORT TIME I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN SAND RACING,AND THE TRACK PREP SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.MY POST OF MAYBE WE SHOULD TAKE A POLL WAS JUST TO SEE WHAT INTEREST THERE IS ON THIS SUBJECT PRO OR CON,IM SURE IT WONT CHANGE NSDA'S GUIDELINES ON THE SUBJECT,BUT IF A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE INTERESTED IN SEEING DUAL TIRES AGAIN IT MAY MAKE THEM THINK ABOUT IT.THERE MAY BE NOT A LOT OF RACERS WILLING TO INVEST THE MONEY TO RUN DUALS.

After reading all these posts on the dual tire Vs single tire, a few people feel that it should be brought up as a vote to see what should or should not be allowed,or ie: take a consensus. The thing about that, is NSDA had to set a guideline for all classes to follow.. why should they have to change there procedure for say 1 car that has a problem figuring out how to adhere to the great track conditions that they provide. On another note as was stated before, there have been no crashes, invoving T/F T/A ot T/E at any race or track that they have prepped, throws out the dual tire safety issue. You will have 1 or 2 in every class that may disagree, from quads to T/F on there decisions on how to run a race or what guidelines to follow, but You will have that in every sport venue. I feel that everyone should applaud the NSDA staff for the great races they provide, the safe tracks, and especially the great venue that they put out there for racers, and spectators. I'will get off my high horse now. "opinions expressed or implied", are sole responibility of those who post them.Have a great day and lets race....

They say You just cant guarentee the prize money in the Sand HMMM... "YOU JUST CAN'T"

JUST MY 2 CENTS ON SUBJECT,SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PRO'S AND CON'S ON THIS ISSUE,I'VE SEEN POLLS ON ISSUES A LOT LESS IMPORTANT THAN THIS MAYBE A POLL WOULD BE GOOD,LET THE MASSES DECIDE THE ISSUE AND GO FROM THERE,SEEYA TF695

Not to beat this thing to death, But look at it with diffrent eyes? Most sand cars look like NHRA counterparts , big deal asphault cars with paddles some whould say. Put duals on and its in its own world. No comparing the two now. They have their own look and personality. One of a kind car ? I think this should be giving some great thought. Marketing and promotion beyond belief ? With the parts of today, should be safe ? Only the daring few could tell us that.I miss the old days !

It is amazing how much safer and hence faster tracks can be when the people building them care. Thanks NSDA!

Dave and Dan,
Thanks for the invites and I look forward to seeing you guys at Primm..Hopefully I have my future venture all worked out because I have a lot of questions about the direction I want too go..Just so you know I wasn't offended by anything I was just concerned about how I was being percieved and I wanted to clear it up...I LOVE the intensity and drive you all are talking about because when Sand fizzled out in the early 90's(at least it seemed that way) I was pretty sad about it and to see what you guys have done and the love you h ave makes me feel real good about living my dream...I've only been able too follow via the internet but love what I've seen so far and look ahead with excitement about being a part of the NSDA........Sure Appreciate it...Mike in Salt Lake City...
