We have updated the rules for 2008 and have them posted online. Please read through them and make sure everyone has the proper safety equipment for their class. Every racer that registers will be given a copy and asked to sign a form indicating the racer has read and understood the rules. After this next race at Soboba, the rules will be enforced with no exceptions. We have had some racers come to the staging lanes without the proper safety eqipment. After this Soboba race, if the racer does not have the proper equipment, they will not go down the track (time runs or eliminations). With the number of cars going down the track, we must enforce some simple safety rules. This is for everyone`s safety and hope that everyone understands our position. Safety is very important to us and we don`t want to see anyone getting hurt doing the sport they love!
Respectfully,
NSDA

Are their any new rules that are not in the printed rules?

2nd place is better than 3rd.

I am arriving late into this topic of safety because I missed the first two races of the year. I am a big supporter of the NSDA rules that apply to our sport. Maybe you could give a very brief overview of the rules that seem to be the problem. I plan to race at Yuma and want to be sure that my equipment and myself arrive ready to race. My main interest is in PRO 1.

We will be enforcing parachutes for TF, TA, and TE. Cars with a top speed of more than 100mph will be recommended, but not mandatory. We should have all the points totalled and posted by the end of the week.

Jody,

Can you clarify the chute rule for everyone- after talking to you this last weekend it sounds like it is going to be for T/E, T/A, and T/F only, not for cars going more than 100 mph. Just want to start getting the car ready for Yuma.

Also- any idea when the points will be posted from the last two races???

Thanks for another great weekend at the track...

Here's one more thing about rear lights. Helps starter see car turn off and If your racing at night what happens when the power goes out ? It gets real dark at most tracks when the lights are turned off, We have all our racers run rear lights, we had a transformer blow in the middle of a race and the guys that were on the track said Thank God for those lights ! It's the simple things that will get you or another hurt. I don't get it when people disagree about saftey, there's nothing to disagree about your life or anothers. We look at condition of product, not year it was made.

I have heard some whining before but this is stupid !!!!!!!
How much is your life worth there is not cost for safety that is to high if you can't afford to be safe you bon't need to race plan and simple thats my two cents worth

Hi Dave. My plan is to make it to the September and October races. Unfortunatly I will be headed to Mobile Alabama in March for two months for work. That is really putting me behind schedule on the changes to my car. I am very much looking forward to playing in your guys sand box!

We do not want to have rule updates on a weekly basis. We want to keep the rules as simple as possible while keeping everyone safe. Racers are building more and more power and safety has become more of a concern. As far as the weekend duner, most of those vehicles are not mandated to wear firesuits or have parachutes. Some rules are required for the weekend duners or first timers. Its just the way it has to be. Most people do research on starting a new venture such as racing. Those people will get the rules and hopefully equip their vehicle for the class they want to run.

NICK YOUR CORRECT, RULES ARE VERY IMPORTANT AND EVERYONE NEEDS TOBE IN FULL COMPLIANT, FROM THE SLOWEST CARS AND SMALLEST RULES TO THE FASTEST CARS AND THE BIGGEST RULES! RULES ARE GOOD FOR ALL AND NO ONE SHOULD GET A PASS,SO WE WILL BRING OUR CARS UP TO DATE BEFORE WE RACE.

MY POINT ON THE TAIL LIGHTS WAS VERY POORLY STATED. THE POINT ABOUT THE LIGHT IS LETS NOT BE LIKE NHRA AND HAVE NEW RULES ALL THE TIME. YES SAFETY FIRST.

THANKS JODY ON THE HELMET AND BELT RULES, CONDITION IS THE IMPORTANT THING!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

I would like to make one comment in defense of the NSDA. I have crashed a couple of times in a race car, and I'm here to tell you that as much as you don't want to spend the time, money, or other resources, or don't feel that you have it in your race budget, all it takes is one good hard crash to make you thank all of the rule makers that made it possible for you to drive your rig home with your wrecked race car in the trailer, instead of having your friends, or your wife and kids drive your stuff home because you can't...
