Heard of a dual tire fuel car being put together, but not allowed to run? Dont know if this is true, but i think you should be able to bring out any combination that'll work. Nobody has the same combination: V8, small blocks, V6, heavy, light, short, and long. Whats it going to hurt to try something new? Just saying my opinion but i would like to see it. I mean how cool to see four tires rollng up to the starting line, now thats fuel racing to me.

There ain't nothing "new" about duel tires! A 2.32 small block, now thats something! There are problems with insurance company's allowing duel tires.

Gettin r done without a "Blower"!

Show me in black and white that the Insurance company excludes duel tires. And if so WHY. I'm truly confident this is the deception of a given few that don't want duel tires in the arena.
We were one of the last to run duel tire in 1991, most everyone moved on to the asphalt which ended the duel tire area. NOT BECAUSE OF SAFETY.

I'll throw my nickel in here, show me a car with dual tires that CONSISTENTLY goes straight. Never seen any in person or on video either for that matter. Another thing to consider, wider cars= less passes on a grade= more down time. T/f and T/A eat a lot of time already, whats there to gain??

I'm sorry for the people that did't show up this weekend for whatever reason. If it was because you did'nt think there would be any bite you really missed it! Which brings up the reason I replied in this forum ,I believe there was all the hook up anybody could ask for. The bulk of the problems were controling the awesome hook. Hence no need for dual tires. Another gripe that I have a problem with are all the whining about races falling on this day or that day, but at the same time everyone wants the races run in a professional manner when most of the time the dates are dictated by other reasons. Thanks NSDA for another great venue and an awesome track!! And in the words of our great race philosopher Swag RACE ON!

I dont know where I got this info but I was under the impression that the dual tires went by the way side to put BA and TF in the same class. I think it was in the Bucky Austin time frame and that there were not enough of either clas so the single tire rule was put there to even the feild and fill the feild at the same time. I dont think it was an insurance issue. However even here in the midwest we had dual tire cars and now we dont. Some of our tracks dont even have insurance so now I am lost. Anybody who knows for sure please help.

Thanks

Rod

LOOKS TO ME THAT WE ARE ALL ASKING THE WRONG QUESTIONS (WHY NO MORE DUAL WHEELS?)... I SEE THE QUESTION BEING, DO THE TF-TA RACERS WANT THEM BACK? THESE TEAMS HAVE PUT ALOT OF TIME AND MONEY IN THERE CARS, MAKING THEM WORK WITH SINGLE WHEELS. REMEMBER USE THE KISS RULES IF YOU CAN. BUT... DUAL WHEELS ARE COOL!

If we allow dual tires how about dual motors?1.32?Hammerdown, by the way, fire was just an oil line. Oil was still on the clutch pedal on Sunday, I am not responsible in any way for that track. That was the hard work of Alfonzo,Chachi, Mike, Kenny, untold others. Alls I can say it was hard to believe what we saw. Dan Allen awsome job, you deserve it! And to finally see the Cameron group on a pass that was truly out of this world. It almost flew. Remember this is 2008, the only direction we need to go is forward. Keep this program going in a positive direction. And by the way Lead foot LeiLani will be there in March with her Razor, Rhinos look out. thats Mrs Hammerdown. HAMMERDOWN

THANKS HAMMER BUT I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE THE CREDIT TO RON AND BRIAN GRISSOM ALONG WITH DAVID STRAUB. THESE WERE THE RACERS THAT STEPPED UP AND GOT THE EQ. FOR THE TRACK MAKE OVER. PLUS THEY ARE THE EXPERTS THAT MOVED ALL OF THE SAND OUT AND PUT THE NEW DIRT DOWN. WITHOUT THEM I WOULD STILL HAVE A T/E CHASSIS.,

With the amount of cars that were in wheelstands, broken wheelie bars and broken chassis from coming down from a wheelstand, do we really need 4 paddles to make this problem worse? There was a time when most tracks were sand and 4 tires were needed to make the cars "hook". With the clay dirt in the tracks today, along with clutch and tire technology, I don`t see a benefit to the dual tires. This is just my opinion, as I have never had any experience with dual tired cars. I am concerned these cars would literally flip over backwards with the thechnology and products available today.

With dual tires its about being able to put more power to the ground. You could start to really load these cars.

I grew up in the early era of sand.. My family ran the track in Rock Springs Wyo and it was the likes of Butch Balir, Danny Dannel, H&H Earthshaker too mention a few who ran the dual....It's my belief that not running the dual takes away some of the umphh that top-fuel sand is all about. Google sand drag and you will see Butch's funny car with duals MAN IT WAS AWESOME.... Hey Butch is that car still around....My favorite of all time.

I thought about this last night and decided to call a few of the "old boys" of the sport and do a little research on the DUAL PADDLE legacy...First the dual paddle was introduced in the mid seventies for a couple of reasons. Back then most of the events were on temporary flat spots of the sand dunes in different areas. But they weren't used for better hook-up by the large horsepower cars..They were actually used to tranfer the great amount of energy at less of an abrupt rate to eliminate pulling from one side to the other... Especially in the front engine cars(altered or jeep bodies if you will).Back then the "tweaking" technology with blowers, rear ends and tranny's was just about nothing so the best way to get that power down evenly and cleanly was to add a greater mass of resistence. most of us know that it's basic law of physics...energy from the motor is sent to the rear tires, now what causes a car (rail, jeep etc) to move is the kenetic energy caused by two solid masses working aginst each other. When the weaker or lesser mass (tires) finally gives, thats when the energy is forced to find somewhere else to go(the vehicle in to motion)..Now to lessen this kind of energy you need to increase your mass of resistence...So dual paddlle tires were and still could be used to ease up the harsh launches that some of these unbeliveable cars are experiencing. Also with the wider stance there is a much greater oppurtunity for a car to remain straight. I saw someone post that because of the clay now a days the hook-up would be too great..My dad was the track boss back in the 80's and I got news for you there has always been clay..Clay actually has one purpose and that to hold moisture..But you can't have straight clay or it wouldn't be Sand Drags it would be mud bogs....Back then they used a mixture of 60% clay and 40% sand...I'll bet the tracks of today r close if not the same. The dual cars always ran straight and never that I am aware of (correct me if I'm wrong)flipped over or brought the front end down so hard that it nearly knocked the driver out. SO dual tires aren't more they actually are less...Of course with more mass you will have a chance of slower times and less mph's..Honestly guys I never thought that the day would come in sand that we would be chasing 2 seconds..You alcohol cars especially r unbelievable..I'm not trying too stir the pot I just know from my personal experience with sand drags and it's originaters that the DUAL has always been a mainstay and a HUGE CROWD pleaser...I was just wondering if maybe there was two cars out there that would want to try the dual out (in exhibiton) and let those who question or don't know, experience this. Like I said just food for thought...Thanks for letting me post....

"I'm the king of my SAND box"

p.s. My greatest memory in the sand was seeing Blaine Johnson win the TOP-FUEL final July 22,1983 in Rock Springs Wyo at the wheel of his and Alan's single paddled blown samll block!!!!!!!!
